Why Organic? Organic products are produced without synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. It is our belief that our organic products are a healthier, tastier alternative to the conventional. Research has shown that organic crops, on average, contain higher levels of trace minerals, vitamin C , and antioxidants. Organic farming is also better for our soil, and better overall for our environment.

Natural vs. Organic The term "natural" has no clear definition. The term "organic" when applied to food can only be used if the food meets all the requirements of the Organic Food Act that was passed by Congress in the early 90's.Organic covers all aspects of growing a crop including the use of compost, natural fertilizers, and synthetic fertilizers. Restriction in the use of non-approved chemicals is part of the required routine.Processing facilities must keep organic ingredients in a storage area that does not have chemicals or other pesticides.Certification of farms and processors is required at least once a year or more.

Ingredients & Benefits

Here are some of the benefits of the ingredients we use in our delicious treats.

Chickpea, also called garbanzo bean, are legumes, like lentils and peas. Chickpea flour is high in easily digestible protein, which your dog needs a lot of. Chickpea is an excellent source of folic acid, potassium and fiber, in addition to being a good source of iron, magnesium, copper, zinc and phosphorus. Chickpeas contain thiamine, niacin, vitamin B6 and calcium.

Blueberries, this popular berry is packed with antioxidants to help maintain a strong immune system, a healthy heart and sharp mind. They contain fiber, vitamin K, manganese, and some studies have found that they help to reduce stroke damage in pets and heart disease. There has been quite a bit of research done that a blueberry-enriched diet may improve cognitive function in older dogs. Because blueberries are rich in natural antioxidants and that plays an important role in preventing a increase of oxidative damage in brain aging. Actually, studies have shown that older dogs that consume blueberries and other antioxidants over several years are more able to perform tasks, and learn new ones, than old dogs that were fed an average diet.

Cranberries, the addition of cranberries to your dog's diet also has several other benefits. Cranberries are rich in vitamins including A, B1, B2, C, and many nutrients. They are full of minerals and antioxidants. Cranberries are an excellent supplement to your dog's diet for the promotion of urinary tract health and they are good for the owner as well. This is one treat that you can enjoy with your dog, so go grab a handful and enjoy them together. This deliciously, natural source of Vitamin C also helps keep your best friend's immune system strong.

Peanuts are a great source of Vitamin E which benefits a dogs coat and immune system. Our Peanut Butter contains Omega-3 which helps dogs grow a shinier fur and improves itchy scratchy skin. Other benefits your dog can gain from omega-3 include extended lifespan, reduced inflammation from arthritis and heart health.

Honey is packed full of vitamins and minerals like vitamin B6, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, potassium, sodium and zinc. Honey will provide your dog with sugars that its body can break down gradually. This can be a natural, healthy way to increase your dog's activity level

Buckwheat is not a wheat, not a grain - it is a berry. Dogs with grain allergies are safe to eat treats containing Buckwheat. Buckwheat is also a very low glycemic food, meaning it will not spike the blood sugar when eaten, which can lead to ailments such as canine diabetes. Buckwheat contains magnesium, which relaxes blood vessels, improving blood flow and nutrient delivery thereby improving the cardiovascular system.

Cinnamon is good for dogs weighed down with painful joints due to arthritis because its anti-inflammatory properties reduce the stiffness and help ease the pain associated with this musculoskeletal disorder. It is also good for the heart as its calcium and fiber content is effective in fighting heart diseases. Cinnamon is noted to improve blood circulation because of its blood thinning compound content. With good blood circulation, the supply of oxygen to the different cells of the body is ensured giving the dog the capability for higher metabolic activity. Cinnamon has antifungal and antibacterial properties thus it is highly effective in dealing with external and internal infections.

Sweet potatoes have much more nutrition than regular potatoes. They're rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory nutrients, and are classified as an anti-diabetic food. They received this title because animal studies have found that sweet potatoes help stabilize blood sugar levels and lower insulin resistance. They contain vitamin A which also protects against emphysema. Notable Nutrients: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Manganese, Copper, Fiber, Vitamin B6, Potassium, Iron.A few important benefits of sweet potatoes include: Supplemental Power: beta-carotene, phosphorous, vitamin C, B-complex & iron. These are all immune system boosters and help with arthritis/inflammation. Digestion: Sweet potatoes are high in fiber and have magnesium in them which makes them easy on the digestion system. Also helps with expelling heavy metals and worms. Cancer: The beta-carotene helps the body fight against free radicals, thus helping prevent cancer.

Parsley is a powerful herb that contains high levels of beta carotene, vitamin B12, chlorophyll, calcium, and is fortified with vitamin C. It aids in digestion, liver support, kidneys, and adrenal glands, purifies blood and bodily fluids and helps boost your dog's immune system.

Pumpkins are full of Vitamins A, C, Iron and Fiber and contain lots of Beta Carotene which is an essential antioxidant. The fiber can be very useful in the treatment and maintenance of digestive health of your dog. Few foods are more readily consumed than pumpkin puree (not the pumpkin pie filling) by our pets; just a small portion in their daily diets (1/4 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon, depending on the pet's weight) can make the difference between a case of chronic diarrhea or constipation and a normal daily bowel movement. Many veterinarians often prescribe pumpkin as part of the treatment for either intestinal malady, as well as simply a healthful dietary supplement. It may not seem logical at first that something like pumpkin fiber can treat both defecation's that are too runny as well as too hard and dry.

STORING TREATS

Where you live -Is it hot and humid, cold and dry or a combination of these? Homemade dog biscuits that are left in a dog treat jar on the counter will last a lot longer in a cool and dry environment than one that is hot and humid.

Air, heat and light will shorten the freshness of even chemically preserved dog treats.

The best place to store homemade dog treats is in a cool, dark and dry place.
